Dancers Unite believes in dancers receiving proper classical ballet training. We strive to teach students correct body placement and solid ballet technique.
At Dancers Unite, we offer ballet classes for students ages 2 to 18 years old. Students in preschool and Pre-K can take ballet as part of a combination dance class (which includes tap and acrobatics). These dance classes are separated by age. Students in these classes are taught basic ballet terminology and fundamentals in a positive and nurturing environment.
Starting in elementary school, classes are divided by Dancers Unite’s ballet level system. Our ballet level system is based on our studio’s ballet curriculum, which combines both the Royal Academy of Dance (or RAD) and Vaganova methods of ballet.
The ballet levels are as follows:
Ballet I: 5-7 Year Olds
Ballet II: 8-10 Year Olds, Beginner to Intermediate
Ballet III: 8-10 Year Olds, Intermediate to Advanced
Ballet IV: Beginner Level Teens
Ballet V: Intermediate Level Teens
Ballet VI: Advanced Level Teens
As you can see, our ballet classes are divided by both age and level. Students are expected to master certain curriculum based steps before they can move on to certain levels. However, students are still divided by age, so if you were for example a beginner ballet student who is a teen, you would not be placed into a class with much younger students.
Ballet classes have a dress requirement as outlined in the following:
Any Ballet Combo Class
Teen Ballet Classes
Students taking ballet lessons will need pink ballet shoes, which can be purchased at the studio.
We offer two levels of pointe at our studio:
Pointe I (For the beginner pointe student)
Pointe II (For students with at least 1 year of experience dancing en pointe)
Our goal is to not injure dancers by allowing them to dance en pointe too soon. Instead, we will work with dancers to get them ready for pointe lessons. Therefore, students wishing to dance en pointe will need to take a pointe evaluation first. For the evaluation, students will wear ballet shoes. The instructor will evaluate the student and upon teacher approval the student will be able to move into the pointe class; otherwise, the student will need to take a pre-pointe class or private lessons to prepare for taking the pointe class.
So if you wish to take pointe lessons, then you will need to contact the studio at firstname.lastname@example.org or 704-846-2985 to schedule an evaluation.
