Dance Classes FAQ
Are you still accepting children into your fall to spring session dance classes?
We are currently enrolling students into our fall to spring 2011-2012 dance classes (you can see these classes on our dance class page).
Do all of your classes follow the September to May schedule?
No, we have a select number of classes that meet in smaller sessions. We have a Latin dance course that runs in 6 week sessions, a Belly Dance course that runs in 5 week sessions, and an Introduction to Dance course than runs in 4 week sessions.
Do you have a limit on the size of a class?
Yes, Dancers Unite limits the size of our dance classes, since we want to make sure that each student receives individual attention. We limit class size to 15 and for our preschool dance classes we have at least a 5 to 1 student/teacher ratio.
Registration therefore is done on a first come, first serve basis, so if the class fills up then you will have to take another dance class.
If my child or I miss a class due to being out of town, my child being sick, or a holiday, will the class be made up?
You will be allowed to make-up the class by taking another class on our schedule that is for the same age. Just ask one of the owners (Miss Jo, Miss Julie or Miss Elizabeth) for assistance in finding a make-up class, or call the studio at 704-846-2985 or e-mail us at info@dancersunite.net.
Are boys only supposed to take boys only classes, or can they take other dance classes too?
Yes, boys can absolutely take any class on our schedule! The only dance class we have that only one gender can take is the Boys Only Hip Hop Class.
Do you sell dance shoes?
We sell pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes in children’s sizes, which are the shoes required for our dance recital. Our ballet shoes cost $16 and our tap shoes cost $20. We also sell black jazz shoes in both children's and adult sizes. The adult jazz shoes cost $26 and the children's jazz shoes cost $24. These jazz shoes are the shoes required for our dance recital for both jazz and hip hop dance classes.
Do you require any particular color leotard in your ballet classes?
Since we are firm believers in freedom of expression, we allow any color leotard. We just require that students in ballet must wear a leotard so that the instructor can properly see body lines in order to help correct students’ technique. Please see our dress code policy for a full list of what we require in each dance class.
My two year old likes to dance but I’m not sure if she/he is ready for the class. What should I do? Go ahead and register your child for dance. If it turns out your child is not quite ready for the classroom experience, then your registration fee and first month’s tuition will count towards next year and your child will be able to try again then for no extra money! We want to work with our youngest students and give them the best experience possible! What types of payment are accepted? Dancers Unite accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover via online payments. If you do not wish to pay online, we also accept personal checks and cash. |

Can I pay the monthly tuition payment online?
Yes! For students who take 45 minutes a week, 1 hour a week, or 1 hour and 15 minutes a week, the monthly tuition payment can be made online. Please click here for instructions on how to pay the monthly tuition payment online.
Do you offer sibling discounts?

I want to register for classes, but I do not wish to pay online. What should I do?
If you would like to register for classes in person, you can call the studio at 704-846-2985 to schedule an appointment. For your convenience, you may print off and fill out this registration form beforehand.
To pay with a credit card over the phone, please call us at 704-846-2985. Completing registration over the phone will reduce your paperwork as you can tell us the information we need & we can fill out the registration form for you! *Please note: you will need to sign a registration form on the first day of class, but the information will already be filled out.*
What is the age range of classes offered?
Dancers Unite’s goal is to make sure everyone has a dance class suitable for their age. We have classes starting at 2 years up to adult classes!
Do you have a competition team?
Yes! Our competition team competes in regional competitions as well as one national competition. Competition dancers are chosen by auditions. Why are there no competition classes listed on the schedule for 2011-2012?
The competition class times will be given to students after the student is accepted on the competition team.
Why can't I enroll in the pointe class?
We hold evaluations for all students interested in taking pointe. This is to make sure that the students are physically ready for pointe -- starting pointe too early can be dangerous for the dancer. Pre-pointe classes are also an option, to help prepare the student for dancing en pointe. Please check out more information about our pointe classes.
